The intercultural exchange project MAMU | ENSEMBLE | TOGETHER aims to create and strengthen positive social bonds between different cultural communities from Canada and around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toronto, September 20, 2019<\/strong> \u2013 La Bo\u00eete interculturelle is proud to announce the Government of Canada’s financial support for the intercultural project MAMU | ENSEMBLE | TOGETHER <\/strong>in partnership with Innu Takuaikan Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam and Pasa Musik. This 10-day community music project, scheduled for March 2020 in Maliotenam, Quebec, is part of the Canadian Heritage, Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Community Support Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

This intercultural event will bring together two unique artists: Shauit, an Innu singer-songwriter from Maliotenam in northern Quebec and Salif Sanou (Lasso), a singer-songwriter from Burkina Faso. Joining them will be a young up-and-coming artist, selected following a call for applications across the Province of Quebec. Together, they will take part in various local activities to promote diversity and intercultural understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The musicians will then travel to the Mauricie region where they will visit schools and exchange with the community. All participants will be given the opportunity to share their vision and  exchange ideas related to multiculturalism. Through meetings and dialogue this intercultural exchange will become a unique model of positive and inclusive actions. It is our hope that this project will explore solutions and pave the way for future collaborations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Bo\u00eete interculturelle focuses its attention on communities and the promotion of cultural and social heritage. It offers participants the occasion to explore solutions and opens the door to new artistic and professional opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This project will be a way for me to show that we, the Innu, although we have been deprived of a good part of our culture – we keep preciously what we have left and we can be open to other cultures and musical genres. Through this project, we will be able to exchange ideas, create bridges, encourage each other to keep our respective cultures and customs alive and to become even more attached to them, especially through a language we all know as being universal: music.<\/p>Shauit<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This project showcases my art and culture which I always love to share with others. It is also an incredible opportunity for me to learn about another culture. Collaborating with Shauit , an artist of great value, touches me a lot. We have in common the patience of music and our cultures.
