The United Nations website states, “The Sustainable Development Goals are a universal call to action to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives of people everywhere, while creating opportunities for the future. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals were adopted in 2015 by all Member States of the United Nations as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which sets out a 15-year plan to achieve these goals.”
The UN also points out that, despite some progress, the sustainable development goals remain insufficient overall.
